Setup notes
Linux
Chrome reaches HID devices through /dev/hidraw*, which only
root may open by default. Without a udev rule the mouse shows in the
chooser and then every request fails. Install the rule, then replug the
receiver or the cable:
sudo tee /etc/udev/rules.d/70-logitech-hidpp.rules <<'EOF'
KERNEL=="hidraw*", SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", TAG+="uaccess"
KERNEL=="hidraw*", SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", KERNELS=="0005:046D:*", TAG+="uaccess"
EOF
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
sudo udevadm trigger --action=add --subsystem-match=hidraw
The second line covers Bluetooth.
Windows
Quit Logitech G HUB and Logi Options+ first. While either runs, the device can show in the chooser and answer nothing.
macOS
No setup needed. Quit Logitech G HUB and Logi Options+ if a device shows in the chooser but does not answer.
Browser
WebHID exists only in Chromium-based desktop browsers: Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi. Firefox and Safari do not implement it, and no browser on Android or iOS has it. It needs HTTPS or localhost.
